Hair Care
Caring for Your Crown
At Crowned In Gold Hair Collection, we believe your wig is an investment in your confidence. Proper maintenance will help preserve its softness, shine and longevity. Follow our care recommendations below to keep your crown looking flawless with every wear.
Washing Your Wig
- Gently detangle the hair using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and working upward.
- Wet the hair with cool or lukewarm water.
- Apply a sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo and gently smooth it through the hair in a downward motion.
- Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- Apply a moisturizing conditioner and leave it on for 10–15 minutes.
- Rinse with cool water.
- Pat the wig dry with a clean towel—never rub or twist the hair.
- Place your wig on a wig stand and allow it to air dry completely before styling.
Conditioning Your Wig
Keeping your wig properly conditioned is essential for maintaining its softness, shine, and natural movement.
- Condition your wig after each wash using a moisturizing conditioner.
- Deep condition every 2–3 weeks, or more frequently if worn regularly.
- Allow the hair to air dry naturally whenever possible.
- Avoid heavy products that may weigh the hair down or cause buildup.
- Store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head when not in use to help maintain its shape.
Detangling Your Wig
Always handle your wig gently to minimize shedding and extend its lifespan.
- Detangle the hair before washing and after each wear.
- Begin at the ends and work your way toward the roots.
- Use a wide-tooth comb or wig brush designed for human hair wigs.
- Curly textures should be detangled while damp with conditioner applied.
- Never pull aggressively on knots or tangles.
Heat Styling
Our premium human hair wigs can be curled, straightened, and styled just like your natural hair.
For best results:
- Always apply a heat protectant before using hot tools.
- Keep styling temperatures below 350°F (177°C) whenever possible.
- Avoid holding heat tools on one section for extended periods.
- Excessive heat can shorten the lifespan of your wig and affect its natural texture.
Storing Your Wig
Proper storage helps preserve the beauty and longevity of your wig.
When not wearing your wig:
- Place it on a wig stand or mannequin head.
- If traveling, store it in a satin bag or breathable storage bag.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight, moisture and excessive heat.
- Always detangle your wig before storing it.
Sleeping & Showering
To help protect your investment, we do not recommend sleeping or showering while wearing your wig.
Sleeping or exposing your wig to excessive moisture may lead to:
- Tangling
- Dryness
- Friction damage
- Reduced longevity
If you must sleep in your wig, wear a satin bonnet or silk scarf to help reduce friction.
Recommended Hair Products
To keep your wig looking its best, we recommend using:
- Sulfate-free shampoo
- Moisturizing conditioner
- Alcohol-free leave-in conditioner
- Lightweight argan or Moroccan oil
- Heat protectant before styling
Avoid products containing harsh sulfates, drying alcohols or heavy product buildup.
